Not everyone can drop a drive off in person — and you shouldn't have to. Desert Data Recovery accepts mail-in drives from across Arizona and the entire country, with the same certified, cleanroom-equipped recovery our local customers get. Every case is handled in-house at our Phoenix lab, so your media stays in one secure facility from the moment it arrives until your data is back in your hands.
How mail-in recovery works
- Start a case online. Tell us about your device and what happened — it takes a couple of minutes and gives your drive a reference before it ships.
- Pack it safely and ship it. Use a rigid box, plenty of padding, and a carrier with tracking. Our shipping guide shows exactly how.
- We evaluate it for free. We confirm arrival, diagnose the device, and send you a firm quote and a realistic expectation of what's recoverable.
- You approve, we recover. Nothing chargeable happens until you say go. We return your recovered files on fresh media — and if we can't recover your data, you don't pay a recovery fee.
Who mails their drives to us
Mail-in is the right fit for anyone outside the Phoenix metro — including all of Arizona (Tucson, Flagstaff, Yuma, Prescott and beyond) and customers across the country. We recover failed hard drives, SSDs and NVMe, RAID and NAS arrays, external drives, flash drives and memory cards — the full range, shipped in from wherever you are. In the Valley? Before you ship
- Stop using the drive. If it's clicking, grinding or was dropped, power it off — every extra power-on can turn a recoverable case into a lost one.
- Don't run recovery software on a failing drive before you send it; it can overwrite the very data you want back.
- Pack for a rough trip. Anti-static bag, generous padding, rigid box, tracking. Full details in our shipping guide.
- Include a note with your name, contact details and case reference so your drive is matched to your case on arrival.
